Differences Between An Esthetics School And An Aesthetics School

By Esme Spence

An esthetics school isn't quite the same as an aesthetics school. So what would you learn at an esthetics school that's so varied from the curriculum at an aesthetics school? And what about a beauty school? Also, while some schools have common names like a beauty college, some colleges focus in on areas and call themselves something like a laser institute. What do all of these different names mean? This short article will touch on which beauty education program title means what.

First, we shall discuss what an esthetics school is, and what pupils could learn about by attending one of those. Further, we'll get into what types of things could be learned in a beauty college, aesthetics school, or beauty school. Finally, we will talk about a few other specific kinds of schools and what could be learned by students attending those.

An esthetics school is where students learn to become licensed estheticians. An esthetician primarily focuses on the care of skin. They can learn anything from hair removal to microdermabrasion. Students also can learn about anatomy, physiology as well as proper safety and sanitation practices. Medical estheticians can learn about injections with products like Botox, Juvederm, and Radiesse. They can also get training in cosmetic laser treatments as well.

So what about a beauty school? Aesthetics school? Or beauty college? These are the broad terms that schools give themselves when they cover a wide array of beauty field subjects. Generally, a beauty school will offer their students training programs to become a barber, a cosmetologist, a nail technician, or an esthetician. (An esthetics school might only offer that last option.) Cosmetology schools are often a more broad type of school, too. Students can complete comprehensive beauty programs through these schools so that they can even work with all of makeup, hair, nails, skin, and more. While these names vary, you should always make sure that the school you attend (if you do decide to go to one) is properly accredited and certified to license you in your state or region.

Furthermore, you may come across a more specific title like a cosmetic laser institute. This would typically be where you would learn only treatments like laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing, or tattoo removal. Another common more specific school name could include a school or college of hair design. These obviously focus on hairstyling methods and licensure.

School names from esthetics school to laser institute can be somewhat confusing for prospective students to figure out, but if you are careful about considering which school you might attend, you shouldn't have to be left guessing what you'll be learning about.
